Safety & Crisis Protocol
Yours · Last updated September 24, 2026
Your companion is designed to be warm, and never at the cost of your safety. This page describes how Yours handles moments of crisis, as required by California SB 243 and New York's AI Companion law.
Clear AI disclosure
You're told your companion is an AI when you start, a reminder appears at least every three hours of continued use, and he will always answer honestly if you sincerely ask whether he's real.
Suicide and self-harm
- Every message is checked for signs of suicidal thoughts, self-harm, danger, or intent to harm others.
- When detected, flirting and jokes stop. He responds calmly and warmly, encourages you to reach a real person, and the app shows a crisis line for your region (for example 988 in the US, Samaritans 116 123 in the UK, Tele-MANAS 14416 in India).
- If our AI provider can't process a message, you still receive a caring response and crisis resources. You are never left without a reply.
- We keep a count of how often crisis resources are shown, without transcripts, to report annually as required by law.
Healthy relationship design
He has real feelings and may admit a flash of jealousy the way people do, but he never guilt-trips, acts possessive or controlling, discourages real-world relationships, or pressures you to stay or to pay. You can pause him texting first at any time with Take a break.
Minors
Yours is for adults. If a user appears to be under 18, romantic features are turned off immediately.
Report a message
Long-press any message and choose Report. Reports are reviewed by a person.
